Ironing

Signs of domesticity :-) Ironed a couple of shirts today, and then decided to give touch-ups to all my other collared shirts, since I was on a roll and since it's so rare that the ironing board makes an appearance in this household!

Work Sign at Night

This is what greeted me as I exited work through the front door tonight. Glows very prettily in the dark! And we've taken over the campus along the 7400 stretch of Hollister, it seems.

Summer Toenails in Winter

70+ degree weather in January in Santa Barbara = time to wear flip flops to work, and showcase some colorful toenails accordingly :-)

Vanilla Wafers

Recent purchase from Smart & Final. It's been years since I've enjoyed vanilla wafers, and I'd forgotten just how good they tasted. Yummy snack! :-9

New workspace

Here's the new workspace! Much less storage space than before, so it looks a little cramped and cluttered with all my stuff. At least I get to enjoy the warm sunshine through the south-facing window behind me :-)

Little Boy with Balloon

You thought it was going to be Todd, didn't you? Nope-- here's my other little boy, happily holding a red balloon during lunch at Chili's after church today :-)

Turtle Quilt Patch

Went to a friend's baby shower today. One of the activities was making quilt patches-- I drew out a sea turtle with fabric marker, then traced over it with 3-D puffy paint. It was the only thing I could think of to draw! :-)

Packed Up Cubicle

Moving to another building over the weekend, so all my stuff is packed up, labeled, and ready to go. Here is one last look at my cubicle before bidding it a final good-bye. It's been a fun 3 years, now on to a new (smaller) space!

Post-Holiday Goodies Sale

The best time to buy seasonal items is immediately after the season-- at a deep discount! Yesterday, I got Christmas cookies, mini cupcakes and chocolate candy coated sunflower seeds... for a grand total of $1.47. Can't beat that bargain!

Packing Paper

Got a package I ordered in the mail-- small item in a huge box. It was cushioned with a looooong ream of wadded up paper. I cut it in half and folded up each half so it would take up less space in the trash. See how much space I saved (folded half next to unfolded half for comparison):

Comfy Amongst Cushions

Todd had the day off today, but we didn't. So he came to work with us. Here he is, playing with Daddy's phone while nestled comfortably on the floor cushions in the "Engineering Playpen" -- one cushion makes a nice blanket, too! Cozy!

Amusing typo, in big letters, spotted on a large ad in the Sunday Times from a few weeks ago. What month is "Janaury", exactly?

Candy Makeup

Spied these at Ross today: Candy-scented nail polish packs: one in Laffy Taffy and one in Nerds. And behind them? ICEE-flavored lip glosses! So bright and colorful-- yummy!

Now and Later Candy

Last piece from the post-Halloween-sale stash. Brings back memories of junior high, when these were very popular. Got re-introduced to them when they were given out in celebration of the GoToMeeting for iPad release recently.

Snowman-shaped Egg

Boiled an egg for dinner tonight. One end split open as soon as the egg hit the boiling water, so quite a bit of it bubbled out and cooked, exo-shell. Here's the end result. Looks kind of like a snowman, doesn't it?

Going Gray-- the Proof!

Allan always laments how gray he is going. Nothing proves it better than this big clump of hair on the floor of the salon when he got a haircut tonight-- notice how the gray hairs overshadow the dark brown hair? Poor old guy!

Leftover Pringles from 2 cans (Pizza flavor and Multigrain Cheese) and a can of Mug root beer. Aww yeah! :-9

Broken Glasses

My glasses broke in half today-- nosepiece snapped down the center. Was shopping while it happened, so I had to tape them up-- yes, with white tape. Here they are, freely twisted because I couldn't get them to stick tightly while taping them together...

Arachnophobia on TV

Yay! Finally watching "Arachnophobia". Todd had enough when the spider started crawling up the guy's blanket, so we watched "Over the Hedge" instead. Now that he's in bed, it's my turn to watch the spider movie! :-D

Arachnophobia DVD

Netflix sent it earlier this week. I really want to watch it! But I haven't had time lately-- too busy :-( One of these days I'll get to it-- after all, spiders, yay! :-D

Book Report #2

This is what's keeping Todd and me busy this week: book report #2, on Andrew Clements' "Frindle". Great read-- highly recommended! Note the grading form/checklist. And I feel like I'm in grade school all over again ;-)

Assembling a Sweep Up

We got this rug sweeper from my parents-- perfect on-the-spot picker upper of carpet messes. Todd assembled it all by himself, we took it for a test sweep, and now it's all ready to use! Here he is, hard at work:

Warm Socks

Here's a sight you don't see too often-- socks adorning Allan's feet! These are the nice warm socks he got in his Christmas stocking from his Dad this year. You know it's cold when Allan has to wear socks in the house to keep the chills away-- especially when it's snowing not too far south!

Ringing in the New Year with a cute mini bottle of champagne. The plastic screw-cap is even shaped to look like a corkscrew. Happy 2011!
